When volumes of meat production are increasing, here appears the question of maintenance of automatic clipping machines that are commonly used in meat-processing plants with production volumes more than 5 tons per day. In automatic clipping machines – continuous ribbon-typed clips are used. These clips are produced on plastic reels (or without reels but with additional adapters), in quantity from 2500 to 10000 pieces on one reel, depending on type.
This allows to produce continuously the same number of sausage loafs, without stopping the production process. Availability of different sizes of clips makes possible to use casings with various diameters, from minimal – d20 to maximal – d120.
Depending on caliber and material of casing, necessary size and article of clip can be chosen. Marking of clip consists of 4 numbers:
• First pair of figures – step of clip, it may be 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 millimeters. Most commonly used are 15 and 18mm clip
• Second pair of figures – clip leg height, it may be 04, 05, 06, 07, 08,09,10,11,12,13,14 millimeters. Most commonly used are 07, 08, 09,10,11,12 mm leg heights.
• Third figure – clip width: 3, 4, 5 millimeters. In Russia most commonly used is 5 mm clip width.
• Fourth figure: clip thickness/ It may be 1, 0; 1, 25; 1,5; 1,75; 2,0; 2,2; 2,25; 2,5. Most commonly used are: 1, 5; 1, 75; 2,0;
2,2; 2,25; 2,5.
